Sarah Hallberg - Type II Diabetes Treatment: How Did We Get Here? What's Our Best Path Forward?

Dr. Sarah Hallberg says that 50% of adults in US have type 2 or prediabetes. If this was an infectious disease, we would be in panic.
Dr. Hallberg presents scientific data that proves that the ketogenic diet can reverse type 2, reduce weight without calorie restriction, and is sustainable.
She also points out the problem with carbs. Even so called "healthy carbs" can spell trouble for insulin resistant people. When eating the same amount of carbs as insulin sensitive people, carb for carb, insulin resistant people gain weight.
The advantage of the ketogenic diet is that with ketones we have a consistent supply of energy, not the ups and downs that come with carbs.

Reversing Type 2 diabetes starts with ignoring the guidelines | Sarah Hallberg | TEDxPurdueU

Obesity is caused by a lack of character, as many want us to make believe. So we can blame them. Obesity is a hormonal disease caused by insulin resistance. Almost 50% have Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. Insulin is a fat storage problem. It makes us hungry and more likely to store fat.
What do the guidelines recommend that diabetics eat? A diet rich in carbohydrates, what is causing the problem. But diabetes at the root is a state of carbohydrate toxicity or intolerance. So, cutting carbs makes sense, because fat keeps our blood sugar and insulin levels low.
